Commercial Drive update

Dave Jones' first solo album, Daveton Jones, was released during a launch party at the Reef on the Drive on July 21, 2010 to rave reviews! Former lead vocalist in the group Sole Survivors, Dave is bringing his music back to his roots with an eclectic mix of classic reggae, calypso, funk and R&B. His guitar is his self-described best friend and his voice is soothing and sultry. All together, they create a relaxing, fun and thoroughly Caribbean vibe.

The Reef on the Drive’s 1st Annual DJ competition was a HUGE success!

Special thanks to all the DJs – DJ Busy Bee, DJ Cander, Su Comandante and DJ Waxwork - and their lovely supporters for making it such a fun evening. The vibe was pumping all night long, Steam Whistle was flowing freely and, in the end, DJ Waxwork won Audience’s Choice and some free beer!

FIFA Licensed Player Agent agent with over 20 years experience working in the professional soccer sector. Antonio began his career as a professional player with Salernitana, but unfortunately an accident forced him into early retirement. He directed his passion for soccer into the study of it and then eventually to meet and collaborate with various managers and presidents from soccer clubs all over Italy. He has been involved in scouting for a number of Seria A teams to discover top youth soccer prospects in Spain, Slovenia, America and Brazil. Currently Antonio Salerno is the General Manager for ACF FIORENTINA youth development in Canada.

Reef Rum Nights at the Reef on Commercial Drive
Come enjoy the Caribbean’s favourite libation and immerse yourself in the ever expanding world of rum.
VANCOUVER, BC – Every Sunday starting January 3, 2010 until April 25, 2010, enjoy a complimentary sampling of our featured rum between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and feature cocktails all night long. Within these 17 weeks, enjoy 17 different, premium rums from throughout the Caribbean.
This past June, the Reef on the Drive teamed up with Rum Runner Imports to create the first of, what were until recently, monthly Reef Rum Nights. The purpose was twofold: to increase brand visibility of rums currently offered at the Reef by featuring different rums every month and, secondly, to educate the staff and guests on the large and diverse world of rum. Local agents were given the opportunity to visit our guests while at their tables, presenting samplings of their product and offering consumer information. Agents were also asked to speak to the staff and other rum aficionados in attendance in a more in-depth manner regarding tasting notes, the history and distillation process at out education table.
Due to overwhelming response, the format was changed from monthly happenings to a seventeen week in-depth event. Participants include Doorly’s XO, Appletons, Old Sam’s, Havana Club 7, Sailor Jerry’s, Flor de Cana and much more. Additionally, our selection of both traditional and Caribbean-inspired dishes is the perfect accompaniment for this featured spirit.
Whether you are interested in a small sample to go with your dinner, are a rum enthusiast or are interested in exploring the vast world of rum, we invite you to join us for what promises to be a fantastic introduction to an under-appreciated cane spirit!
